A Not-At-All Successful Mosquito Deterrent

Plant society garlic, was the advice from the local mosquito expert.

So we did.  Lots of it, including the stuff in the pot in the foreground of this photo.

Mosquitoes don't like it.

True enough . . . but they are perfectly willing to bite the person standing next to the garlic.

  1. Sad but true. Maybe you're supposed to eat the garlic?

  2. You are. Whole heads of it. We roast them in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper. Done when so soft you can squeeze the garlic out and use as spread.

It's delicious but only a little helpful with mosquitoes.

  3. Delicious trumps helpful, much of the time.
