Stag At The End Of Winter
Photographed this morning.
This is the first stag I've seen in some time. One of his antler's is chipped, he has scars, and he was moving kind of stiffly. I guess it's been a tough season for him.
Breathtaking Jean..what a look in his eyes, very moving (all your pictures have this quality I think). I've meant to comment before now but my pc was broken and then I was super-busy, but thankyou for your beautiful pictures, I always look and appreciate x
Yes. Like tree shapes, the antler pattern and shape is species-specific, so that, without seeing more, you could identify this as a white-tailed deer, or so I've read.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Fiona. I'm glad you're enjoying these.
ReplyDeleteOh my. So lovely. Antlers are so curious -- almost like a tree growing on his head.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. He has so much character in his expression.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shanna.
ReplyDeleteI need to take some more photos. Spring is here this week--green and flowers are happening.
Are the gorgeous Blue Bonnets in season yet? They create fields and fields of blue, much as poppies create fields of orange here in L.A.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen them yet and I'm not sure I'll know them when I do see them.
ReplyDeleteAccording to this website on Texas wildflower sightings, the bluebonnets have started blooming.
