Dragonfly At The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

Photographed October 2009 at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, on one of my many trips from LA to search for housing in Austin.

Turns out this is a kite and initially put up to complement a kite exhibition in 2003.

The airport is fun: breakfast tacos from Salt Lick (an Austin thing), a coffee honor bar, books, kites, music homages and performances, local art exhibits and more.

And, despite the "international" in its name, it is small and friendly.

And there is no Starbucks. Austin Java, instead. With the aforementioned honor bar (the best thing about the airport outposts of Austin Java), so bring your dollar bills.

  1. Love dragonflies - wonder who made it.

  2. Yeah, to dragonflies at airports! I was just talking about how dreary it is sometimes waiting for the plain...
    but here they dare!
