An Unconventional Woman

This was my second visit to Formosa, the late 19th Century art studio of sculptor Elisabet Ney, located in Austin's Hyde Park neighborhood.

Free, completely fascinating look back at European and Texan history.

And a chance to learn about a woman who defied the mores of her time and eventually influenced the course of Texan history.

Formosa is fun, too.  One can (and I did) climb to the small tower room on the narrowest spiral staircase.

Fawn

This fawn was on its own, mom not in sight.

After a lot of munching on leaves, it took off, fast, for its mother, who was uphill, doing her own grazing..

Good Day for a Swim

One teeny bit of Barton Springs Pool, on a hot summer Saturday, in the early afternoon.

Night Falls on the River at County Line Barbeque

We abandoned Oasis for drinks (beer recommended) and ribs (pork recommended) outdoors at County Line in Austin.  The creek is Bull Creek, full of turtles that night.  Lovely and peaceful.
